Privacy Policy
Parall and its website are designed with privacy in mind. This document explains how your data is handled.
Website
The Parall website collects no personal or identifiable data.
It uses Plausible Analytics - a privacy-friendly, cookie-free analytics tool that does not track individual visitors, use cookies, or share data with third parties.
- No personal identifiers are stored or collected.
- No tracking scripts, ads, or cross-site data collection.
- Data is aggregated and anonymized for statistical purposes only (e.g., number of visits).
The Parall App
The Parall app is a fully sandboxed macOS application that works locally on your machine.
By default, Parall operates offline and does not send any network requests or collect personal data.
The only time Parall sends a network request is when you explicitly click “Download Compatibility Settings”. This request is used exclusively to fetch recommended compatibility presets for the app you selected.
Data sent in that request:
- Parall version
- Parall build number
- macOS version
- macOS architecture
- Selected app bundle identifier
- Selected app name
What the server returns:
- Recommended feature flags to enable or disable Parall options for the selected app
- Optional additional command-line arguments
- Optional Home override setup guidance (paths used to create symlinks to host locations when required by that app)
- Optional environment variable names used by Parall shortcuts (for example, to define a Home directory). No environment variable values or key-value pairs are downloaded.
No personal identifiers are included in the request, and if you never click the button, no data is transmitted from the Parall app.
Parall may also include clickable links (for example, to documentation) that contain UTM parameters such as the Parall version and macOS version. These parameters are only present when you choose to open those links.
Parall does not include background services, telemetry, or any communication with external servers beyond the optional request described above.
Parall Shortcuts
The shortcut bundles created by Parall:
- Work entirely offline and never make network requests.
- Transfer no data anywhere.
- Are not sandboxed and not signed by design.
- Contain only configuration information necessary to launch the target app.
- Never modify system files or other applications.
These shortcuts are user-created local bundles that exist solely on your device and are never transmitted anywhere.
